Canary in the Coal Mines

Canary in the Coal Mines

In the early years of mining, coal mining in particular, miners would take canaries with them into the depths of the mines. If the canary died, the miners knew that toxic gases were in the air and would evacuate (from the US Dept. of Labor- http://www.msha.gov/century/canary/canary.asp#.UvpcyIWymig). Gas “sniffing” devices have sense replaced the canary.

An ever increasing cascade of events should be paid attention to with the same eyes and ears as the miners did those canaries.

The incidents:

Dr. Ben Carson Blasts IRS Gestapo Tactics

Regardless whether on agrees with any administration’s policies, clearly this is not good for the nation.

We should well remember two statements from Thomas Jefferson:

“When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”

“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have.”

Many who applauded Castro, Lenin and Mao later enjoyed the full blessings of absolute rule by fiat in prison.

There’s an ancient proverb about the camel’s nose under the edge of the tent. These events are more like the camel’s head and neck being in the tent. We’d best put the animal back outside lest the tent become its bed and not ours.

If you value your personal freedom and the future of your children, you’d best wake up now.
